I have always found it difficult to eat whole fresh fruits! I seem to have a mental block when it comes to fruit but – don’t get me wrong – I do love fruit provided they are in a liquid form. I love my juices and smoothies!
I buy fresh fruits and freeze them and use them in drinks on a regular basis. This gives me my 5 a day boost – well that’s my excuse anyway… Lol!

I stumbled across this very simple quick power drink recipe after my initial teacher training course. It’s absolutely, delicious with Almonds a few drops of rose water – love the smell of roses. Here is the recipe if you want to try it!

Ingredients

  • 5 Almonds (soaked overnight and peeled in the morning)
  • 1 big dry fig
  • 1 or 2 dates (take off the pit from the dates)
  • Few nuts of your choice
  • Few filaments of saffron
  • A few drops of rose water

Method

Mix all the ingredients together with some water (not almond water) I sometimes add soya milk to mine instead of water, adding the saffron, add extra water if needed to adjust the consistency (it should remain quite thick) and add few drops of rose water before drinking – enjoy.

I usually make this drink in the morning before a class as a wake up drink – it’s delicious and energising.

Benefits

I found that Almonds have a number of health benefits they contain magnesium and vitamin E as well as healthy fats, fibres and proteins. If you want lovely, shiny hair and smooth skin this little gem will do just that. It’s also, good for your heart plus dates and figs also have similar health benefits.
